This project comprises the UX research and design of a SCADA system that regulates, monitors, and controls waste water in the Vallei en Veluwe region (NL). The system incorporates mobile and stationary touchpoints for control room, site managers and service engineers.
FLO interactive partnered with ICT to deliver a new system where the end-deliverable is a guaranteed user satisfaction rate of 85% after deployment. A UX driven process steered by SUS measurements was put in place to achieve this.
We were able to streamline and simplify workflow, making significant step towards a more data driven operation. This was supported with a UI design with clean and functional visual language to standardize complex system diagrams and forms. This is being rolled out over 17 sites.

Context
Regional water authorities in the Netherlands are dealing with an increase in demand combined with a need for efficient utilization of resources and resulting by-products. Outdated systems, constantly patched and incomplete are being replaced by connected context sensitive performance focused solutions, which solve the needs of multiple stakeholders, from site management to service engineers. Our thorough needs analysis and collaboration with users created focus on the unique challenges confronting this fast developing sector.
impact
Change is difficult to achieve in an organization that has such a large cross section of stakeholders, with entrenched and complex systems. Working in close cooperation with ICT, we were abale to bring about a significant improvement in the satisfaction score of the SCADA system, and provided a base for future expansion into mobile and diagnostic domains.
