cruise control ...

Scope

Following on from our Home Control project at Honeywell, we were asked to
explore our connected experience flow concept in the context of a cruise ship.

Seeking a holistic experience for both end users and crew, we explored a flexible and modular approach to logistics, services, and event management. Enabling multiple stakeholders via collaborative data collection

Results

Understandably, this project was abrubtly halted ... Due in the most part to the global pandemic and it's effect on the cruise industry.

Context

A cruise ship can be likened to a small town in terms of its complexity and logistics. As well as adressing the passenger experience, we wanted to establish a more connected, holistic use of data, which would benefit both hospitality and maintenance/logistic activities.

Analysing the “passenger at home”, the “passenger at sea”, and even the “passenger in memory” also provided a wider insight upon which to build an experience. Seeking context between apparently disparate processes delivered increased efficiency and effectiveness, especially in relation to planning and coordination.

stakeholders view

impact

In this study the approach we created for Home Control has been applied across another complex organizational structure. Feedback from the client was positive and plans were being made to further the work based on more realistic data sets.

The global pandemic and its effect on the cruise ship industry has led to the termination of the project. However, we feel positive about our approach, and have learned much that can be applied in future projects of this nature.
